The New Colony Theater has been helped by numerous volunteers and
the spirit of volunteerism.
Susan and I could not have possibly attempted to bring this grand old
theater back to life by ourselves.
It is more than gratifying to continually see people streaming in on
Saturdays, picking up hammers, brooms, paint, drywall, carpet tools and
digging in to work.
Besides Susan and myself, at least twelve people painted the insides,
thirty people moved everything from our old space to the theater, seven
people installed the chairs in the theater auditorium, five people painted
and designed the backstage dressing rooms, four people hung drywall,
three sanded, eight cleaned the kitchen area and sixteen inmates carried
our chairs from site to site until we were ready to install them!
So, in a sense, this theater was made for people by people ... by you!
We hope we've done it justice!
If you want to help out at the theater - just give us a call at 757-625-1212 or
come on by any Saturday and pick up a brush!
If you want to contribute funds towards the youth orchestra and/or the
restoration, by all means call us at 757-625-1212.
All of it helps!
